Warm Spring Days

Today was soooo warm and sunny–it was perfection! I love the first few warm days of spring. They are so refreshing! Unfortunately, they are usually followed by a few more wintery days…but I am not going to think about that right now. I’m also choosing to ignore the mud! We took advantage of the weather and spent some time outside this afternoon.

That tomato is suspicious.

Pure evil.

Evan’s ball is a lot more fun.

Once the ball was back in safe hands, Lily tries to liven up Tyler by biting his ankles. He ADORES this, can’t you tell? Sometimes I think she is part blue heeler.

Spring? Hello? Are you coming?

For being such a short month, February always feels sooooo long, as I am over winter. OVER IT. I actually embrace winter back in December, with the snow adding to the holiday spirit. January, I’m still hanging in there, as we all know January is going to be cold and nasty. However, by February, I cannot find much endearing about winter. Although this image is from last weekend, I woke up to similar snowflakes this morning. It’s not sticking, but still.

Lifestyle Maternity Portraits

I am guessing that many of my readers will recognize this couple. If not, you need to get to Crossroads Community Church in Morrison! I had the honor of taking their maternity portraits this week. I have to say they are so much fun that I spent about as much time laughing as I did taking photographs (admittedly I had to a scrap a couple of shots because I was laughing too much to hold the camera still). The baby that will join this couple in the next few weeks is one of the luckiest babies alive. I can’t wait to meet him!

Since they were looking for relaxed images in their gorgeous historic home, we played a lot with natural light:

They are such a happy couple, and so blessed, and they deserve every bit of it.

There is something I really like about this one. I usually prefer maternity images in black and white, but this one I was feeling the color version more:

Beginner’s Photography Workshop

Next Saturday, I am holding a very informal, very beginner photography class here in Morrison. We will talk about things like how and when to use the different modes on your camera (no manual mode), how to take better pictures with your own camera, and some basic photo editing using a free program. Last summer, I did a workshop for those wanting to use their SLR cameras, but this one is much more basic and any camera will do.

The workshop is at 10 a.m. and is free to anyone who loves cameras and photography! E-mail me at jan@janscottphotography.com if you are interested and I’ll let you know when the details!

Help

As many of you know, we are having another baby in May. I am currently making myself NUTSO over trying to choose nursery bedding. The problem is I don’t love anything, and the ones that I like are so different from one another that I just cannot choose. EVERY time I go through these crib bedding websites, I come up with different solutions.

So, can you all help me out? Here are tonight’s top four choices:

1. Pottery Barn Scallop Pique, in green (click on that title to see it on their website)

Things I like about it: It’s plain and simple. I would probably get the green rug and paint the walls pale green.
What I don’t like: Is it TOO plain for white furniture? Is it TOO plain to make a cute nursery?

2. ABC Crib Bedding

Things I like: it’s different, it has matching window valances, it’s happy. The walls would be either light blue, cream, or light green. I think the mobile that matches it is really cute. It’s pretty cheap.
Things I don’t like: It’s pretty…I don’t know… ABC. What if I get tired of ABC’s?

3. Willow Deer Bedding

Things I like: It’s very modern, different, and nature-ish. Cute for baby without being cutesy. There are lots of matching accessories, although I wouldn’t get all of them, as that is a lot of deer. The walls would probably be pale green.
Things I don’t like: The mobile is really ugly. Deer are kind of overpopulated and pesty around here.

4. Olli and Lime George bedding

Things I like: It’s very modern and very different. There are some really cute wall art prints that match it.
Things I don’t like: Is it too modern and trendy for a baby? What color would the walls be? It’s kind of pricey (“But when has that stopped you?” my husband says. He’s so cute. And usually right).

So, who wants to help? You can start by coming over and painting the walls. Just kidding about that (kind of). Please vote for your favorite of these four. I am also open to suggestions if you have other ideas!
