Archive for the ‘Seniors’ Category

I photographed this beautiful young lady’s sister a few years ago, and now it’s her turn to graduate from high school this year. Maybe it’s the only child in me, but I’ve always found differences and similarities between siblings to be so interesting. Miss E. is so similar to her older sister in some ways, but different in others! They do not look very much alike, but some of their mannerisms are the same. They are both really fun ladies and I am so happy I was able to work with this family again.

E. had fabulous outfits. I loved them all.

If you’ve been a client of mine, you’ve probably met Alex, who has been my primary assistant for about four years. I have a couple of other young ladies who have filled in for Alex here and there, as she’s busy with things like camp and another job here and there, but it’s mostly been Alex. She was only 14 when she started helping me, and now she’s going to be a senior in high school. *sniff sniff* It’s been really fun to watch her grown not only as a photographer, but as a beautiful young Christian lady. She is fiercely dedicated to what she believes in and not afraid to go against the grain for what is right. I feel fortunate to have been able to get to know her so well over the years.

Alex is going to be a senior in high school this year, and we’ve decided we will snap a few senior pictures here and there. I’m sure we’ll have a dedicated senior session here shortly, but here are a few we took after a session at Eagle Point Park in Clinton, Iowa a few weeks ago. We have tried to include a few that incorporate her personality. First off, she loves Tom’s shoes, mostly because for every pair of shoes you buy, they send a pair to a child in need. How cool is that? We took this image so she could post it on their Facebook page.

Thank you, Alex, for teaching me what a fedora is. Ironically, I own three fedoras and I didn’t know what they’re called (not for myself–for my photo booth).

These headphones are awesome!

As I said, she is a photographer, too, so she found an old film camera for some of the images.

A serious shot, even though she’s usually smiling.

This is a more common expression for her!

Several of my clients travel a good distance to reach me, but this young lady drove down from Wisconsin for her senior picture session. I’m glad she did, too, because she is incredibly photogenic and we had a great time with her and her sister!

One of my very favorites from our session:

I also like this one–the soft light, the way the colors of the tree match her dress…

My favorite shot! The wind is like the sun–sometimes it really adds to a photo and sometimes it’s a real pain. In this case, I love the direction it’s blowing her hair.
