Senior and Family Portraits

October 1, 2011

About 5 minutes after this shot it poured. And I mean POURED.  We could wring out our clothes. This shot was worth it, no? A beautiful family.

But our main focus of the evening was this young man’s senior pictures.

Senior Portraits

September 29, 2011

Yet another high school senior! It’s been a busy season of soon-to-be grads.

I’ve had a bit of a blogging block lately. A writer’s block, really. I have many great images I want to share with you, but I postpone doing so because I cannot think of the words to do justice to how amazing the clients are that I work with.  I feel like I repeat myself in saying how nice and friendly and good-looking and fun-loving my clients are, but it’s all true. I’ve had outstanding luck in that the people who choose me to do their portraits are incredibly, amazingly, nice.  I guess people who are not nice probably do not value their family members enough to have quality photos taken. Not to say all nice people DO have photos taken.  I, for example, have not had a photo taken with my family in at least two years, but I think more like three, and we’ve never had a professional photo shoot. Once when my son was two he and I did, but as a family, we have not. How sad is that?

Back to business, here. Let me share with you one fabulously nice young man whose photos I was lucky enough to take a few weeks ago in Clinton, Iowa.  We did a few down by the river and then skipped on over to the golf course.

This particular area of downtown Clinton has several different types of wall surfaces all in one block. It’s like a little natural studio right there.

Old bricks are the best. I think the urban look is my favorite of all.

And old, peely wooden doors.

Old alleys

Old windows…

Rusty metal…seriously, studio photographers have “fake walls” made of all of this stuff in their studios. It was a great area!

And down to the water!

My favorite!

On to the golf course, where they have made a bridge out of an old railroad car.
