The Fine Art Image Book is a 5×7-sized book of your favorite 30 images. The images are printed on 110# weight, glossy UV-coated paper. The paper is hinged so the book lays open flat. You can add additional images (up to 50 total) for an additional price per image. The book is higher quality than the brag book (which is a spiral-bound set of every image from the session) but more economical than ordering 30 5×7′s and putting them in a traditional album. I ordered a sample book using my daughter’s newborn pictures, and I am in love with it! The front and back covers are customizable. I put my favorite image of her on the front and her birth stats on the back. The pink for the back cover I color-matched to her bow. It’s a fabulous keepsake that I hope she will cherish when she is older!

First Birthday Portraits

April 7, 2011

I think that one-year portraits may be my very favorite sessions. I love photographing toddlers, as they are just who they are and there’s no self-consciousness or facades. The parents are completely smitten. We enjoyed a very warm day in March for this session! We started with some family shots at the park and then headed back to their home for a super fun cake smash.

This is my favorite shot from the whole session. He’s SUCH a handsome little guy and his expression here makes him seem so “little boy” and not at all baby anymore!

He and Daddy are buddies!

Some family fun:

And the CAKE SMASH! I am excited to be teaming up with Amie of Edibly Divine here in Morrison for cake smashes. She has made my son’s birthday cakes for the last several years, along with a few other cakes that I’ve found an excuse to order. They are seriously SO GOOD. I am not even supposed to eat cake (gluten intolerant) and I really don’t normally LIKE cake but I think I would commit a small crime in exchange for one of Amie’s cakes. Okay, I wouldn’t, but they are crazy good.  Anyhow, back to the cake smashes…they are great for first birthdays, and even second birthdays. If you are interested in adding a {really really really yummy} cake to your session, just ask! I order the cake and pick it up, so there’s no extra work for you. For this little guy’s birthday, we did a giant cupcake. I think it’s perfect for a first birthday! He was unsure at first, and really mostly interested in the little circles.

He honestly did not realize that cake was food because he was just playing with the circles! Finally, we picked them off, and he figured out it was to EAT.

He did not look back. I honestly have not had another baby shovel it in as fast as he did! He was double-fisting it for awhile. I TOLD you it was good cake. :)
