Lifestyle Maternity Portraits

February 18, 2010

I am guessing that many of my readers will recognize this couple. If not, you need to get to Crossroads Community Church in Morrison!  I had the honor of taking their maternity portraits this week. I have to say they are so much fun that I spent about as much time laughing as I did taking photographs (admittedly I had to a scrap a couple of shots because I was laughing too much to hold the camera still).  The baby that will join this couple in the next few weeks is one of the luckiest babies alive. I can’t wait to meet him!

Since they were looking for relaxed images in their gorgeous historic home, we played a lot with natural light:

from a lot of angles…

They are such a happy couple, and so blessed, and they deserve every bit of it.

A couple of snuggle shots:

Here’s the WHOLE family:

Then, we headed up to the nursery and took some shots there, where I captured my favorite image:

along with a few other fun shots:

There is something I really like about this one. I usually prefer maternity images in black and white, but this one I was feeling the color version more:

Stay tuned…you will be seeing more of these two + one in March!

Oh my goodness, this little princess was gorgeous and so easy to photograph!

Project 365 – Take II

January 1, 2010

Project 365 is a photography project in which you take at least one photograph a day for an entire year.  If you Google (when did that become a verb??) “Project 365 Blog“, you will find hundreds of other photographers and photo enthusiasts who do this.  You can also find hundreds of great examples and groups on Flickr.  I encourage ALL of you to try this, as no matter what level you start at, I guarantee you will learn throughout this process!  You can even do this project with something as basic as a camera phone.  Posting your project online is optional but a ton of fun. You can do so easily by using a blog (use Blogspot or Wordpress for free). If you are reading this and you have a Project 365 of your own, send me an e-mail or add a comment and I will create a link to your blog/site on my Project 365 blog. It’s so much fun to see what things other people are taking photographs of. Trust me, when you don’t remember to take your photo until right before bedtime on a winter night, you really have to get creative!   By the way, you certainly don’t have to start on January 1! Another thing to remember is you don’t have to POST your pictures every day–you just have to take them daily. Your camera will keep track of what date photos were taken, so don’t worry about remembering which photos were taken when. Just keep your camera handy, click away daily, and once a week or so choose your favorite from each day and post your results!

Happy photographing!!
