The best part about living in Morrison, IL is that the fair is just a few blocks from home! And, one of the best parts of the fair is takings photos (well, for me…my son has a different idea of what’s best). I love taking pictures at the fair. There’s so much action, so much color, so many interesting things to look at. Of course, going to the fair with Evan involves things like rides and games and junk food and spending money. I can’t take a lot of pics with him, because I really need to focus on where he is. He will wander away from me just a bit, and in the chaos, he will disappear. It’s only happened once (he walked off a ride and wandered to another thinking I’d see and follow…I didn’t see him). We found each other within seconds, but it shook me up enough that I don’t take my eyes off of him for long. I would love to go some day with my good lens (too big and heavy to carry around while we do the fair) and sit in a good spot and take some shots! Maybe next year when the fair isn’t during school!

Here are some non-Evan shots from Thursday. I did have Evan, but I snuck these in. He rode rides for a couple of hours, we ate, we played games, we watched a couple of horse races, and now I have to go to the bank for the third time this week to get more cash. Both times before this I’ve sworn I took out enough for the whole week. Nope.

I’ve always loved horses, and I’ve always loved photos of horses. My favorite books as a kid were the coffee table books on horses. I memorized those photos. If I lived in an area where it was feasible, I’d become an equestrian sport photographer. Meanwhile, I will take pictures of horses at the fair! I really wanted to stay and take some pics of the barrel and pole racing, but I had a little boy who needed to get home and to bed! So, I snapped a few shots of the twilight harness racing and then one of the draft hitch.

You may have noticed the absence of client posts this week…I took the week off. Between the fair and the beginning of school, my plate is full! Things will start to pick up again next week. Stay tuned!
