Hello! I’m back! Bet you didn’t even know I was gone… Well, I was… We drove to Versailles, Indiana yesterday so my husband could compete in the Dino XTerra triathlon there. We had a nice drive out yesterday, fun stay in the hotel, got up nice and early and drove the 30 miles to the park where the race was. We noted that several cars were driving the OTHER way with mountain bikes on top. “Weird,” we thought, but we talked it over and decided that they were people who were not racers that went to the park just to ride, only to find that the trail was closed due to the race. Then, Chris saw his running buddy driving the other way. Okay, not cool. Big line at the gate to the park. Other cars coming out of the park with bikes. Definitely not cool. Finally, an official-looking gentleman with an Xterra hat shared the bad news–the race was postponed until the next weekend. BUT! The good news! We could get into the park for free! Yippee! Free $7 admission! Isn’t that $7 gift worth driving 7 hours there and back? Chris took it much better than I did. He skipped the Bix to go to this triathlon. The drive was seven hours. We stayed in a nice hotel. We paid the neighbor girl to dog-sit our older dog. The younger dog we took with us, which meant we really couldn’t do anything fun on the way home (it was rainy so outdoor activities were out). I bought six hundred-mile presents for gosh sakes (Evan gets a little gift every 100 miles to make the drive more bearable. Thanks to Angie for this idea). Oh well, I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Evan and I can’t tag along next weekend, as I have a wedding on Saturday and he has a birthday party on Sunday. Bummer.
On a positive note, before I left I photographed a gorgeous senior girl. She is the sweetest little thing and it would be remiss of me not to add that she’s an amazing gymnast! I have such beautiful and talented clients. We did the photos around her farm, and what a beautiful piece of property that is.
