‘10 Senior

July 30, 2009

I am having a great time with all of these 2010 seniors! When I began my business, I thought I would specialize in children’s portraits, but I have come to love seniors just as much. They are fun, they listen, and I don’t have to bribe them with candy. Maybe now that the secret’s out they will start making demands for candy… No worries, I will not give up photographing children. There is something amazing about them, as well, but it’s a different kind of amazing. The amazing thing about this young lady is that she is not only gorgeous, but a talented swimmer and an exceptionally nice girl. I had a great time spending the morning with Miss M. during her short hiatus between swim seasons. I am sure she will have an amazing senior year!

She has a stunning smile…

but I also love the way a serious shot brings out the eyes, especially in black and white:

She switched hairstyles in a matter of minutes. Not fair, huh?

Demonstration Shots

Evan was the only one available to model for some images I needed Tuesday night. I told him he did not have to do a thing but stand there and look at me. So he did. These are SOOC (straight-out-of-the camera–no processing) using my 5D and 85mm f/1.8. Can you tell the difference among them?

Legoworld

July 28, 2009

Some of my favorite photography blogs include snippets from the photographers’ personal lives, so I’m trying to be more open around here. Recently, Evan and I played Legos in his room. His room, which I like to look like this (well his comforter is missing off of his bed in that pic and the Lego table lid is upside down and the shelf is kinda messy…but you get the idea):

Currently looks like this. He seriously can pull of this amount of destruction in about 15 seconds.

*sigh*

But, the boy is having a good time and he will play in there for HOURS. He’s really getting creative with his Legos, which is nice to see. He used to be obsessed with building the kits, and I was constantly having to build the kits we had that were destroyed so I could find all of the pieces, then take them apart, and let him rebuild them. Can you even guess how much fun it is to try to build a Lego kit when you are digging through that pile of Legos looking for a piece the size of your pinky toenail? It’s great fun indeed. Let’s just say that I’m relieved he cares less about the kits now and is more into using the pieces to make his own cool things.

For example, today, he build a boat with enough lights to light up the whole ocean:

I built a house for the captain of the boat, his family, and his staff. From left, the captain’s wife Margaret, the captain (obviously in street attire), his daughter Lulu, their delinquent son and disappointment to the family (currently on work release) Alfred, their handyman Mo, their gardener (he is close to retirement I think) Sal, their chef Francois, and their handyman Brutus..

The captain’s house was in danger! Evan sent a pirate boat converted to a…thing on wheels to look for loot! (Note the treasure in front of the house in the previous pic)

But, all ends well when the boat that lights up the whole ocean came sailing through the save the day!  I’m not sure how it sailed through past a house on land, but you know, anything is possible in Legoworld.

Lily, bored beyond imagination, steals one of Evan’s Webkinz to retaliate for neglect. (Bad picture…it was too dark and I tried to save it…doesn’t work, see?)

On a non-personal note, don’t forget about the photography workshop TONIGHT! Yippee!
