Photography by Evan

June 22, 2009

I don’t bring Evan on many photo shoots with me. He’s four, after all. 90% of the time he is a sweet, well-mannered boy. However, the other 10% of the time, OH MY. He LOVES to come, so I let him come along if I am doing a session for a good friend sometimes. To keep him busy, I let him take pictures with my back-up camera, a 30D. I put one of my lighter lens on it, often the 28mm f/1.8 or the 85mm f/1.8, set the camera to auto, and let him have at it. It’s actually pretty entertaining to go through and look at the shots he captures. Often he will out-shoot me and end up with more shots than I do! Last week, I let Evan come with when I did a free session for a local non-profit organization that is looking to update their website (more on my end of those shots soon). Here are some of his captures. I think several of them are impressive for a four-year-old!

I find cats to be the hardest of all animals to photography (you try bribing a cat), but Evan did okay!

He caught this shot of me in action:

and this one (many of you are probably recognizing this non-profit now!):

Back to the cat:

An interesting angle:

Tree branches are always interesting:

Evan calls these “spaceships”. I try to tell him they’re airplanes, but he insists that THAT ONE (whichever one he’s looking at at the time) is a spaceship.

Blog Facelift

June 21, 2009

You may have noticed that I change things up a lot. There are two reasons for this–one is I get bored with my website and blog being the same month after month. Secondly, I kind of enjoy playing around with websites. Just in the past month, I’ve added a new senior site, created a new splash page (the main page you see when you go to www.janscottphotography.com), and overhauled my blog. I’m currently working on updating my location guide. I almost always have some behind-the-scenes project going on with my website, blog, logo, client shopping cart, etc.

I hope you enjoy the new blog look. Please let me know if something is not working correctly. I do test out my sites on four different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE, and Safari), but I we only have Vista computers so I have no way of knowing if there’s a glitch with another operation system.

I meant to blog about this earlier this week and forgot…

TONIGHT (Saturday) from 4-10 p.m. at the Rock Falls legion you can bid on one of my sessions! You could win a $50 session + a $200 print credit. This is a chance to get a session for a great deal and with 100% of your money going to a great cause! All proceeds go towards the cancer treatment of Daisha Pohren, who lives here in Morrison with her family.
