Update

January 12, 2009

Sorry, I’m being a blog slacker. Between this blog, my 365 blog, and my personal one, I’m having trouble keeping up! Here’s a photo from today’s “blizzard”:

I looooove snowy days for portraits so much!  I wish more clients would schedule winter sessions, as the all-white background makes the subjects really pop. Here are a few from a recent session:

Project 365

January 1, 2009

I’m starting a new personal project, but it’s photography related so I thought I’d share here. It’s called Project 365, and the goal is to take one personal photograph a day and post them. The photos can be of anything, but I’m going to center mine around my family and our activities. Client photos don’t count.

You may be thinking that I’m already taking 365 photos a year, and I am, actually I’ve taken that per DAY numerous times. In fact, in 2008 alone I found 1256 personal photos that I deemed worthy enough to upload to our family album on Smugmug (I keep a separate gallery for each year).  However, I have not taken photos every day, in fact, sometimes a week or more will pass and I don’t take a photo around the house at all.  So, this year, I vow to take at least one photo a day of something mundane, something around the house, or sometimes something fun and exciting! Of course, I will still be taking numerous photos on our more interesting days, but I will choose just one for Project 365.

By the way, I did not come up with this idea. It’s been around awhile and is commonly attempted by many, many people! If you are a Flickr person, there are tons of Project 365 groups there.  Even if you have the very simplest camera, I challenge you do to his!  If you do, please comment here and let me know, as I’d love to follow your progress!

I won’t be cluttering up this blog with my 365 photos, but I will post them here if you are interested: http://jansproject365.blogspot.com/ . Here’s my first photo:
