Hey Canon, I think I love you! Wait, you already knew that. Well, I love you MORE. I sent my beloved camera into Canon for cleaning and a check-up, and in less than two and a half weeks, it was on my doorstep again! The best part–other than the $30 I spent to insure it and ship it, it was FREE. I’ve had the camera over a year and didn’t think it was under warranty anymore, but apparently it is. They also sent e-mail updates when it was received, accepted for repair, and shipped back. VERY impressive in a world of such poor customer service. They updated the firmware, adjusted the exposure & focus, cleaned the sensor, and replaced some dial accessory part that I didn’t even know was broken. So, great news for those of you w/ sessions between Christmas & New Year’s!
I also feel some love for Samsung, although I’m not nearly as emotionally attached to my computer monitor. Last year for Christmas, Chris bought me a really huge wide-screen LCD monitor. It made my old monitor look like and i-pod screen. A few weeks ago, it started flickering, and right at the end of my busy season; I was panicking. I do still have my old monitor as backup (I actually usually run two monitors at once–I’m often doing photo work on the good one and e-mailing/web-surfing on the old one). I felt just sick to think of editing sessions on the old monitor. I called Samsung to report the problem on a Tuesday, and on Friday of that same week they had a brand new monitor for me waiting to be picked up. All I had to do was go to the nearest UPS store and drop off my old one. They even boxed it up for me. I didn’t pay a dime!
I love to report the great customer service I received from both companies. I would highly recommend both, not only because of this, but also because I love their products!

Ooo I need to send mine in for servicing..I’ve never done it and my sensor needs cleaning. Hmmmmmm can you email me the info on where to send it?
Here’s the link for Canon EOS support: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportIndexAct enter your camera model, and then on the next page, click “arrange a repair”. Mine wasn’t really BROKEN, but I put in that it wasn’t focusing using the outer focus points as well as it used to (true) and then put in a note that I wanted the sensor cleaned.
