Shout-Out to Canon and Samsung

December 19, 2008

Hey Canon, I think I love you! Wait, you already knew that. Well, I love you MORE. I sent my beloved camera into Canon for cleaning and a check-up, and in less than two and a half weeks, it was on my doorstep again! The best part–other than the $30 I spent to insure it and ship it, it was FREE. I’ve had the camera over a year and didn’t think it was under warranty anymore, but apparently it is. They also sent e-mail updates when it was received, accepted for repair, and shipped back. VERY impressive in a world of such poor customer service. They updated the firmware, adjusted the exposure & focus, cleaned the sensor, and replaced some dial accessory part that I didn’t even know was broken. So, great news for those of you w/ sessions between Christmas & New Year’s!

I also feel some love for Samsung, although I’m not nearly as emotionally attached to my computer monitor. Last year for Christmas, Chris bought me a really huge wide-screen LCD monitor. It made my old monitor look like and i-pod screen. A few weeks ago, it started flickering, and right at the end of my busy season; I was panicking. I do still have my old monitor as backup (I actually usually run two monitors at once–I’m often doing photo work on the good one and e-mailing/web-surfing on the old one). I felt just sick to think of editing sessions on the old monitor. I called Samsung to report the problem on a Tuesday, and on Friday of that same week they had a brand new monitor for me waiting to be picked up. All I had to do was go to the nearest UPS store and drop off my old one. They even boxed it up for me. I didn’t pay a dime!

I love to report the great customer service I received from both companies. I would highly recommend both, not only because of this, but also because I love their products!

I can’t even believe that 2008 is coming to a close!  What a whirlwind year, in so many ways.  Once again, I feel extremely blessed to have the people in my life that I do, most of all my family, but also including the wonderful clients with whom I worked this year!  Once again I created a slideshow of my very favorite image from each session in 2008. Do you have any idea how hard it is to choose just ONE image from each session?  But, I did it, and I hope you will enjoy watching!  There are a few repeat faces, and those are my wonderful clients who booked more than one session in 2008. Also, a several clients are missing–not because I don’t love them, but because they are the ones who did not sign a model release either of their own choosing or because they were part of a large group (often with large groups I don’t mess with model releases).  To view the show, click here: Jan Scott Photography’s Year-End Slide Show 2008.

Such a cutie, and gorgeous parents, too!
