Hey Canon, I think I love you! Wait, you already knew that. Well, I love you MORE. I sent my beloved camera into Canon for cleaning and a check-up, and in less than two and a half weeks, it was on my doorstep again! The best part–other than the $30 I spent to insure it and ship it, it was FREE. I’ve had the camera over a year and didn’t think it was under warranty anymore, but apparently it is. They also sent e-mail updates when it was received, accepted for repair, and shipped back. VERY impressive in a world of such poor customer service. They updated the firmware, adjusted the exposure & focus, cleaned the sensor, and replaced some dial accessory part that I didn’t even know was broken. So, great news for those of you w/ sessions between Christmas & New Year’s!
I also feel some love for Samsung, although I’m not nearly as emotionally attached to my computer monitor. Last year for Christmas, Chris bought me a really huge wide-screen LCD monitor. It made my old monitor look like and i-pod screen. A few weeks ago, it started flickering, and right at the end of my busy season; I was panicking. I do still have my old monitor as backup (I actually usually run two monitors at once–I’m often doing photo work on the good one and e-mailing/web-surfing on the old one). I felt just sick to think of editing sessions on the old monitor. I called Samsung to report the problem on a Tuesday, and on Friday of that same week they had a brand new monitor for me waiting to be picked up. All I had to do was go to the nearest UPS store and drop off my old one. They even boxed it up for me. I didn’t pay a dime!
I love to report the great customer service I received from both companies. I would highly recommend both, not only because of this, but also because I love their products!
