There is a certain comfort in doing photo shoots at locations I’m familiar with, but the real fun is when I get to go on-location to new places. I love it when clients invite me to their home for their sessions, as this allows me to try out something new while giving them portraits that are different from everyone else’s. Miss B. invited me to her farm to do her senior picures, and I was especially excited about this on-location shoot, as she wanted several images with her horse.
Spirit is horse, but I am not sure he knows he’s a horse…he is a part of their family! He’s a retired racehorse, but he’s very mannerly and it’s obviously that Miss B. has worked very hard training him. My favorite images from the session were of B. and Spirit. They definitely have a special bond!

B. looks gorgeous on her own, too!

Over the weekend, I photographed the Rock River Jazz Band in Sterling. What a great group of musicians! You may recognize a couple of them, who are also in the Sterling Brass quintet. We had a great time photographing them, and we were really wowed by the music we heard at their rehearsal! Definitely check this band out. I heard a rumor that they will be performing at the Petunia Festival on July 5 in Dixon. You may view their other public concert dates and listen to some of their songs on their blog. You can view all of the images I captured during my time with this band on my Facebook business page.

We have a new member of our family! Lily started out as a foster, but within a few days we realized that fostering wasn’t going to work this time. She’s a whippet, and about a year old. We love her so much! We signed the adoption papers today, so she’s officially ours!
