Last week, Evan and I had our pictures taken by Shanelle Johnson. Ironically, I despise having my picture taken, but I have so many great shots of Evan and of him and my husband, that I thought it was time to have a few pictures of Evan and myself. Also, I needed a good picture of myself for the “About the Artist” section of my website. Shanelle did a great job, but it was so hard for me! It wasn’t too bad when I had Evan to interact with, but once I was on my own, I felt like a gangling mess of arms and legs. I had NO idea what to do with myself. I will stay on the OTHER side of the camera from now on, thank you very much. Here are my favorites (shared w/ Shanelle’s permission):

Last night, the “flowery” part of Cassie’s senior portrait session. Her mom knew of a wildflower field that was just fabulous!! Unfortunately, it started to rain right before we started, and we got a little wet! It pretty much ruled out any photos on the ground, but we improvised as much as possible.

*warning–photographer talk ahead* I am so thankful for my Canon 5D for shoots such as this, when the light is low! The 5D has an amazing ability to take pictures at high ISO’s without noise. Several of the shots from this session I took at ISO’s of 800 or higher!

So, here are a few shots. I just LOVE the field of flowers with her white dress! The first one is actually from a different field, where there were sunflowers:

I think this is my favorite image from the whole session. I think she looks STUNNING here! She’s a beautiful girl, but there’s something special about this look.

They were the two gorgeous pups I photographed over the weekend. It’s been awhile since I had the chance to photograph an animal, and it was great! My first love is photographing pets! Oddly, I don’t have any fabulous pictures of my two greyhounds. Or our beta. Anyhow, meet Izzy and Bree!

We dodged rain on the drive to the park, but once we arrived, it was perfect! As was Miss M, looking just as cute as she had the two previous times I’d photographed her. I just love her little personality. Here are a few of my favorites from her session. She has such gorgeous eyes–so reflective!

She had no qualms about letting is know when she didn’t like something:

Above our fireplace, we have three equal-sized frames, and of course these pictures are always of Evan. I hadn’t updated them long time, because I just haven’t taken a shot that’s really “Evan” that I feel is “wall worthy”. So, last week I ordered three prints that I wasn’t completely in love with, just to have something current.

Tonight, I out the camera because I wanted a snapshot of him with his new haircut (click here for the old hairdo). Wouldn’t you know it, RIGHT after I’d just ordered new prints of him, I get a shot that is so “Evan”? I just adore it!

These are two of my favorite clients–which is evident if you’ve been to my website, as they’re all over it! They are such sweet little girls, and very photogenic! They are cousins, so we did a pettiskirt session at the park over the weekend.

It’s always fun to take pictures of the seniors from our local high school, so I had a great time photographing Alex last night. He’s a two-sport varsity athlete, honor student, and also a very photogenic guy! Here are a few of my favorites from his session, along with some special effects:

A new trend in photography is this faded, almost hazy look. Modern vintage, if you will:

Selective coloring is so 90’s, but occasionally I think it still works (albeit very rarely!):

I am happy to announce that I can now take credit cards the “real” way. Before, I was using either Google Checkout or Paypal, both of which were fine, but sometimes confusing for clients without an account in one or the other.  Now I can very easily take credit cards over the phone or in person. Yay!

I started my business around this time last year, and since then I’ve had over 80 sessions! Thanks to all of you for helping my business grow!

I photographed these siblings about a year ago. (looking at that post reminds me that I haven’t been to the farm in awhile–I need to do a session there soon!) They are just as cute now as they were last year! We went to Rockwood Park this time, and although we were eaten by more than a couple mosquitoes, I think the kids still had a good time and we were able to capture some good shots!
